Dear Parents and Guardians,
TL;DR: A nationwide breach involving PowerSchool’s support portal has impacted some student and teacher data.
Out of an abundance of caution, access to PowerSchool has been temporarily locked down as of 12:00 PM today for any user who is not connected to the state network,
StageNet This means that access from outside the school network will be unavailable after this time. North Dakota Information Technology (NDIT) is working with PowerSchool and districts to evaluate the scope of the incident.
We also recommend changing your PowerSchool password as a precaution.
We want to provide you with the details of this incident and what steps are being taken to ensure the security of your information.
What Happened:
On December 28, 2024, PowerSchool discovered unauthorized access to certain data in one of their customer support portals (PowerSource).
PowerSchool identified that only specific users whose information was marked in certain system configurations may have been affected.
What’s Being Done:
PowerSchool has activated its cybersecurity response protocols and brought in third-party cybersecurity experts.
Access to the affected portal has been secured.
PowerSchool has confirmed there is no evidence of malware or ongoing unauthorized activity.
Next Steps for Parents:
Change your PowerSchool password as a precaution. Create a strong password that you do not
use for other accounts.
Monitor communications from your school for updates as additional information becomes
available.
The next update on this incident will be sent out on January 17 by noon.

Fessenden-Bowdon Public School and HWC Track and Field are starting a fundraising drive to replace our over 20-year old hurdles. The wear and tear of that many seasons has jeopardized the integrity of our hurdles, and it is time to update them.
By sponsoring one of these hurdles, you are helping to ensure that our track and field athletes have safe, high-quality equipment to use in both their training and in meets hosted here in Fessenden.
We routinely host 4-5 track meets per year, with some meets bringing around 400-500 participants. Many coaches, athletes, and fans have expressed high praise for our facilities and how our meets are run.
Please consider contributing to the continued success of Harvey-Wells County Track and Field by making a donation to replace our hurdles.

The deadline to turn in order forms is this Friday 12/20! If forms aren’t submitted by then, unfortunately, we won’t be able to guarantee a jersey. Forms went home with every student or are available in the school office!
With the winter weather expected to arrive later today, Fessenden-Bowdon School is preparing for Virtual Learning. IF THE WEATHER PREVENTS US FROM MEETING IN PERSON TOMORROW, we will hold a virtual learning day. Elementary Students will be sent home with packets of materials for your students to work on. 7-12 students will be provided materials digitally, through Google Classroom. All teachers will be available via email between the hours of 9:00 and 3:10 for assistance, if needed. 7-12 students were provided a schedule as a guideline for work completion.
Once again, a virtual day will be held in the event that we are unable to have school in person. That decision will be made later today or tomorrow morning.
Metigoshe in Motion will be held after school for the early out on Wednesday, December 18th for grades 3-8 at the First Lutheran Church from 1:30 - 5:00 PM. Everyone welcome!

Exciting Science in Action!
This morning, Mr. Huber’s applied biology and chemistry class shared an explosive volcano demonstration with our 4th graders! Students were captivated as they watched the “lava” erupt and learned more about chemical reactions and earth science. Thank you, Mr. Huber, for bringing science to life and sparking curiosity in our young learners!
